At NAWO, we’re absolutely committed to improving the quality and experience of our signature mentoring program every year. We’re pleased to announce that for 2024’s Program, we’ve had yet another upgrade and are pleased to deliver some high impact offerings to our 2024 cohort.

Before we continue to introduce our new mentoring initiatives, we’d like to note that our standard (and signature) mentoring options are still available. This year, like before, we’re offering Individual 1:1 and circle or group mentoring options, where experienced operations leaders generously offer their time to mentor women within our network, guide them in their career journeys and help them make their next strategic moves.

Now, let’s get into the details of our new offerings!

Introducing our Gender Equality Men (GEM) Program

We understand that a lot of men want to advocate for gender balance, but need better access to tools, practices, and community to empower them to make that happen. We also know that to move closer towards our gender balance goal of 40:40:20, we need leaders that know how to bring abut effective and long lasting change within their circles of influence.

We’ve had these conversations with our community and decided to put words to action and create a mentoring space for operations men where they can develop their inclusive leadership capability and strategic advocacy and allyship efforts.

We’re very pleased to introduce you to NAWO’s Gender Equality Men Program, or as we like to call it – the GEM Program!

The GEM Program seeks to support men across operations with the tools, resources, and expertise to enhance their inclusive leadership capacity and capability and step-up as gender equality advocates and leaders in their workplaces.

Like our signature Mentoring Circles, the GEM Program runs from February to October and comprises of seven sessions. These will be led by two incredible mentors, and also feature invited guests and subject matter experts to provide input on the latest ideas and great practice.

If you’re ready to work with us and lay the foundations for a 40:40:20 future – then you should join the GEM movement. Head to our mentoring page to learn more and sign up as a mentor. If you’d like to participate in the group sessions as a mentee, then mark your calendar for September 26.

For the first time – NAWO is offering sponsored mentoring places

You read that right.

For the first time, NAWO is offering 30 sponsored mentoring places in our 2024 Mentoring Program. This initiative is open to women based in Victoria, who are working in energy and manufacturing.

This is a result of our third and most significant funding partnership with the Victorian Office for Women – which we are very pleased to announce.

This funding will not only enable us to enhance our mentor program offering and delivery, reach and mentor more women in operations nationally, and better measure our program’s impact, it will also allow us to support our Victorian Mentee Sponsorship Program.

We are inviting women in both regional and metropolitan areas to apply to be mentored by senior operations leaders focused on supporting and progressing the careers of Victorian women in energy and manufacturing. This program is unique in that it provides participants with access to not only operations and leadership expertise via their mentor, but a sector specific supportive network of women at similar career stages. And, your costs are covered!

This sponsorship opportunity is open both NAWO members and non-members and offers:

  • 5 x 1:1 Mentoring opportunities
  • 4 Mentor Circles of 5 women
  • Energy Industry Introduction Mentor Circle  (where participants can learn more about a career working in the energy sector)

All sponsored mentoring opportunities will be facilitated by experienced leaders from the energy and manufacturing sector.

Our Energy Industry Introduction Mentor Circle is for women based in Victoria who would like to move into, or across to a career in energy. The opportunity will provide them will valuable insight into the industry, exposure to what a career in energy will be like and, the guidance of a highly experienced leader. The aim is to help with strengthening the pipeline of female talent in the energy sector by mentoring women to effectively plan for a possible career commencement, pivot or transition.

If you are based in Victoria and know women from your network that may interested in starting a career in energy or further building their expertise in energy or manufacturing, tell them about this opportunity. We begin accepting Mentee applications on September 26.
