The NAWO 100 Women in Operations campaign celebrates women making their mark in operations, creating visibility and inspiring future pathways.
Today we welcome Alison McGregor, Refinery Asset Manager at Viva Energy to NAWO’s 100 Women in Operations wall of fame!
Alison initially started her career with Shell Australia as an Asset Engineer after completing her bachelor’s in chemical engineering. Four years later she accepted a role in the Netherlands as a technologist at the Pernis Rotterdam Refinery, and subsequently as a consultant in the Shell Global Solutions organisation.
Upon returning to Australia, Alison took up the role of State Operations Manager at Viva Energy Australia, responsible for terminal, airport and pipeline activity across Vic, Tas and SA. Alison is now the Refinery Asset Manager and is responsible for the strategic management and development of assets at Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery.
Leading a team of Asset Managers, Engineers, Production Specialists, and Integrity experts, she addresses competing demands of cost and asset integrity assurance and reliability. Along with her team, Alison develops, assesses, and implements asset management strategies in a highly regulated major hazard facility.
With a background in Chemical Engineering and an MBA, she has worked in the Energy Industry for two decades, across a range of roles – from process engineering to infrastructure strategy management, to commercial and operational roles in supply chain – gaining experience both in Australia and abroad.
Nominated for:
- Establishing herself as a capable leader, managing several strategic projects across the region.
- Expanding her career in operations and asset management as a highly respected member of the Senior Leadership Group and Refinery Leadership Team.
- Passionately advocating for women in operational roles and championing the first Supply Chain – Women in Operations Network.
Congratulations, Alison – we are proud to share your story as part of NAWO’s 100 Women in Operations.
