✨ Today we celebrate Hailee Espie-Baker, Mechanical Fitter at Monadelphous, for joining the NAWO 100 Women in Operations wall of fame!
Hailee Espie-Baker is the only fully qualified female Mechanical Fitter with Monadelphous at Inpex. She began her apprenticeship at 17, inspired by watching her dad fix cars and encouraged by her parents to pursue a trade. Always hands on and eager to learn, Hailee embraced mechanical fitting as a career where she could apply practical skills, help others, and build her own independence.
Since starting in 2021, she has mastered complex mechanical tasks and developed a passion for machining – using the lathe and mill to create parts and tooling from scratch. Her technical expertise, strong work ethic and positive attitude quickly earned her the respect of her peers, and in 2025 she was recognised as the Inpex Tradeswoman/Operator/Technician Award Winner.
Beyond her own role, Hailee mentors apprentices in the machining workshop and encourages more women to join the trade. She hopes to see more females discover how rewarding mechanical work can be – the satisfaction of seeing and understanding how things can be fixed and made by hand.
Nominate for:
- Being a role model amongst her colleagues and setting the standard for those in the Mechanical trade.
- Her enthusiasm, upbeat nature and being one of the few women in this field – paving the way for future female leaders.
“I hope in future to see more females in mechanical trades. I hope to see, even though the work is labour intensive and heavy, more women learning how fun being in trade can be and how rewarding it is to see and understand how things can be fixed and made by hand.” Hailee Espie-Baker
Congratulations, Hailee – your story demonstrates just how rewarding and impactful a trade career can be.
