Since joining Bradken in 2011, Luna Smith has built a career grounded in practical experience, adaptability, and a commitment to getting things done well. She began in a business unit focused on as-cast metal services for the mining and metal industries, where she was responsible for coordinating transportation, warehousing, and inventory. Her work ensured the smooth and cost-effective flow of raw materials, and her ability to understand and meet client needs played a part in developing strong, long-term working relationships.
When the standalone unit was closed, she moved into Bradken’s transport team, continuing her focus on logistics and supply chain operations. Today, she manages international imports into Australia – working closely with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to make sure goods move efficiently and meet all compliance requirements. She prepares and manages documentation, tracks shipments in real time, and responds quickly to any issues that arise, helping to keep supply chains running with minimal disruption.
Her role also includes auditing transport costs, identifying areas for savings, and supporting senior management with logistics reporting and data that inform better decisions. She values the opportunity each day brings to solve problems, learn something new, and improve how things are done. The ongoing challenges of her role keep her engaged and motivated, and she’s always looking for ways to contribute positively to her team and workplace. Whether it’s improving a process, supporting others to grow, or working through complex logistical tasks, she brings focus, care, and a collaborative mindset to everything she does.
