NAWO’s 100 Women in Operations campaign celebrates the visibility, possibility and pathways for women working in operational roles across Australia.
Each woman featured has been nominated for how they represent leadership, impact and career progression in operations – and today, we celebrate Joni Kua, at ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation).
Joni began her journey with ARTC as a work experience student 20 years ago and has held various roles within the business. Recently stepping into a new position as Manager Commercial & Contractual Engagement in August.
Joni is passionate about making a difference – for the people around her and for the wider community. She hopes the future of operations is one where diversity and inclusion are fostered as everyday habits. We love that, Joni!
Joni has been nominated by NAWO CEO Louise Weine for:
🔹 Being a brilliant role model for women in operations.
🔹 Actively leading and advocating for inclusive teams in rail network operations.
🔹 Demonstrating the power of balancing technical capability with empathetic leadership, and bringing her perspective to the table with quiet confidence.
🔹 Volunteering her time to advocate for gender balance and equitable outcomes beyond her own workplace with NAWO.
The rail industry is incredibly diverse, highly operational and offers fascinating career pathways – Joni’s experience is a wonderful example.
Congratulations Joni!
Joni also featured on NAWO’s Inclusive, Equitable Leadership panel – you can watch the recording and access resources here.
