This session will look at the practical steps organisations can take to ensure equal opportunity across the entire recruitment journey, from the language used in job ads to the design of assessment processes and the structure of selection panels. We will discuss common barriers that prevent women and gender diverse candidates from progressing and identify strategies that help widen talent pools, support equitable decision making and strengthen representation across operational roles.
Participants will also consider how Dial 5 connects with the broader Nine Dials framework, influencing job design, succession, leadership capability and career pathways. As with all sessions in this series, the focus is on practical tools and achievable actions that you can apply immediately in your own organisation.
We’re delighted to welcome Zara Carey, General Manager of People Experience at Komatsu, to this session. Zara leads Inclusion & Diversity, Talent Management, Organisational Development and People Analytics across a workforce of 4,000 employees spanning Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and PNG.
With a career across FMCG and heavy machinery, Zara brings deep experience leading people and culture initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes in male-oriented industries. She’ll be sharing Komatsu’s real-world experiences, challenges and successes within Dial 5.
About NAWO’s ‘Tuning into the Nine Dials’ sessions
NAWO’s Nine Dials for Gender Balance outline the areas we know can ‘turn the dial’ on gender balance in operations. Each month we’ll be exploring a Dial in detail, starting with a deep dive session on the first Thursday of the month. These online events will focus on what organisations can do to ‘turn up’ the dial, and how NAWO can support.
