Flexible work is one of the most powerful tools available to organisations seeking to improve gender balance and create more sustainable, people centered workplaces. In July, our Nine Dials learning series takes a closer look at Dial 2: Flexible Work, examining how thoughtful design and consistent implementation of flexibility can support employees to thrive while meeting operational needs.

This session will explore the practical elements of flexible work, including different types of arrangements, how to apply flexibility fairly across roles, and what it takes to build a culture where flexibility is genuinely supported. We will also look at common challenges, misconceptions and barriers, and discuss approaches that help leaders embed flexible practices that work for individuals, teams and the business.

Participants will consider how Dial 2 connects with the wider Nine Dials framework, influencing job design, recruitment, career development and the retention of women and gender diverse employees. As always, the focus will be on practical insights and actions that leaders and practitioners can start using right away.

About NAWO’s ‘Tuning into the Nine Dials’ sessions

NAWO’s Nine Dials for Gender Balance outline the areas we know can ‘turn the dial’ on gender balance in operations. Each month we’ll be exploring a Dial in detail, starting with a deep dive session on the first Thursday of the month. These online events will focus on what organisations can do to ‘turn up’ the dial, and how NAWO can support.
