ABOUT THE INCLUSION HABITS FOR OPERATIONS LEADERS PROGRAM
Inclusive leadership is central to NAWO’s mission and we continue to create avenues to support people within our membership to lead more inclusively, provide a safe space to ask questions and have conversations that help achieve greater gender balance. Achieving gender balance in the industries represented across the NAWO membership requires us to increase the capability, insight and awareness of operational leaders at every level, so that they can be more inclusive in their habits every day.
Developed in collaboration with Emberin and NAWO’s member organisations, the Inclusion Habits for Operations Leaders program is designed to build inclusive leadership capabilities and improve business outcomes.
Delivered over ten weeks, there are three key components to the program:
- Learn: each day participants complete 10-15 minutes of app-based learning centred around the six habits of inclusive leadership
- Discuss: participants gather four times in interactive webinars to share and reflect. Between sessions they are allocated a ‘journey group’, headed up by an Inclusion Coach who answers questions and provides motivation.
- Experiment: Throughout the program, participants put their newfound learning into action through exploring real-life, operations-industry-based scenarios and resources that bring the concepts of inclusion and equity to life and trying out practical ‘experiments’ that boost personal growth and organisational impact.
Participants focus on building their capabilities across six habits of inclusive leadership:
- Owning up that we are different and talking about it
- Every team member counts
- Trying new ways
- Sharing more about me
- Asking you what’s really going on
- Changing approach to get the best out of you
FAQs
What’s the time commitment?
The online learning takes approximately 10-20 minutes each weekday to complete, and can be done on any mobile device over seven weeks. Participants are also invited to attend four one-hour webinars, and conduct and document five ‘experiments’. These experiments are not meant to be additional work – instead, they’re intended to be opportunities for participants to try different approaches to their existing work. In total, the maximum estimated time commitment across the 10 weeks is 15-20 hours.
Do participants need a computer or desk to complete the course?
To ensure frontline staff can participate, all of the online learning is accessible by both mobile app and web browser. Note that participants may need access to a computer for entering their experiments into a shared online space and to join the webinars.
When is the program running in 2025?
We can schedule the program for intact teams (all participants are from the same company) for whatever dates work best for you and your employees. Contact us on [email protected] to discuss. We will also be running one ‘open cohort’ for anyone to join, from 14 July to 28 September 2025 – register at the bottom of this page to register for this cohort, or email us on [email protected] if you would like to be invoiced directly.
What support do participants receive?
In addition to weekly check-in emails and four webinars led by the NAWO team, all participants are placed in a small group led by an Inclusion Coach. These coaches are there to provide motivation, advice and support across the 10 weeks, and are either past participants in the program, members of the NAWO team, or senior leaders from the participating organisation who are passionate about inclusion.
